This pathway enables teachers to positively impact the lives of children with special needs. Our new Marek-Smith Center for Teacher Preparation provides a one-of-a-kind setting where ÎÞÂëÁ÷³ö students plan and implement activities for children and teens who have special learning needs.

Julianne Kovacik '18 is a sixth-grade teacher and coach at Creekwood Middle School in Humble. The passing rate for ÎÞÂëÁ÷³ö education majors on the TExES teacher certification exams is consistently above 96%.
Education courses at ÎÞÂëÁ÷³ö are taught by professors who were classroom teachers themselves, and the program offers exemplary field experiences. During a recent state accreditation visit, the ÎÞÂëÁ÷³ö education program was commended by the state of Texas for its outstanding field experiences for student teachers.
ÎÞÂëÁ÷³ö maintains a close connection with 15 area school districts, so our students have multiple opportunities to visit schools and make connections with prospective employers.
