In his 50th career appearance and 38th start for the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Men’s Basketball team, senior guard Eli Beard eclipsed the 1,000 career points milestone in a home game against arch-rivals Hardin-Simmons University.
While the Cru lost a 72-71 nailbiter in the final seconds to the Cowboys, Beard delivered another excellent performance scoring 17 points on 6-13 shooting from the field and 4-8 shooting from behind the arc to reach 1,001 career points as a Crusader.
These efficient and high scoring performances have become a regular from the Sandy Hook native, who is averaging 21.7 points per game on 48/40/87 shooting splits, placing him in the top 30 leading scorers in NCAA Division III and top 40 in 3-point percentage.
Beard hoped to lead the Cru to their fourth ASC Champiosnhip and cement himself further in the ÎÞÂëÁ÷³ö record books as the Cru travel to Marshall for the Conference Championship Tournament from Feb. 25 to March 1.
